Professional Counseling

We believe that counseling is most effective when it involves caring for the person psychologically, relationally, and spiritually through a therapeutic relationship.

Our professional counselors are licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors and trained in well-researched and established therapeutic methods. Equipped with Biblical knowledge, our counselors are able to assist clients who care deeply that their counselor will help them apply these principles as part of their therapy. Our counselors are also able to work effectively with clients not wanting spiritual counsel, as each client is treated with unconditional positive regard.

We realize that while many people need the assistance of a licensed professional counselor, others may simply be seeking confidential pastoral care counseling.  We understand how this can be a valuable resource for some individuals and families who are struggling.  This service is also available here at The Gathering Place.

Support Groups

There is something so powerful about knowing that you are not the only one who feels the way you do.

Whether the focus is on abuse, loss, depression or one of many other difficult experiences, a group can provide tremendous emotional support. Group members often help and encourage each other as they begin to feel comfortable and open up to one another.

Leaders may be professionals or peers who have experiential knowledge and are able to share ideas, coping skills, and helpful resources. As members grow and progress, they positively affect each other as they share what they are learning and improvements that are taking place in their lives.

Current Support Groups

  • Divorce Care – Geared toward gaining strength and receiving encouragement on the path of recovery after separation or divorce.
  • Divorce Care 4 Kids – designed to help minimize the negative effects of divorce on a child’s emotional health, schoolwork, and spiritual life.  This program helps children process their feelings and gives them tools to communicate better with their parents.
  • Hurting Moms Mending Hearts – for moms dealing with the pain of having a child who is making destructive decisions or disengaging from their family.
  • Grief Share – weekly support group that provides a warm, caring environment to help you on you journey through the loss of a spouse, child, family member or friend.
  • Miscarriage & Infant Loss – Some of the topics included are self-care, understanding and processing your grief, difficulty in relationships, remembering and honoring your baby, parenting grieving children.
  • Chronic Pain/Illness – This group is for those who are dealing with illness, disability or pain that is chronic in nature.
  • The Body Revelation – For the person who has tried to love his/her body but has never felt satisfied or content, you are not alone.

It’s our goal to see you transform your whole self to feel well and confident.

When we get healthy and whole, we are fit to pursue the call God has on our life. The inclusion of fitness and nutrition classes provides a new way for people to meet together and grow in love for God and one another.
